On August 31st, Dazhong Public Utilities and Dazhong Transportation Group donated 1 million yuan to the Shanghai Charity Foundation for the Tibet Jilong Debris Flow Relief Special Action. Yang Guoping, Chairman of the Dazhong Group, attended the donation ceremony, and Zhong Yanqun, Director of the Shanghai Charity Foundation, accepted the donation on behalf of the foundation.
On August 26th, a mudslide disaster occurred in Jilong County, Xigaze City, Tibet, resulting in casualties, severe damage to houses and infrastructure, and huge losses to the lives and property of local people. The disaster has touched the hearts of compatriots from all walks of life in Shanghai. Under the guidance and support of the Shanghai Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, the Shanghai Charity Foundation promptly launched the "Shanghai Love, Heartfelt Concern for Jilong - Special Action for Relief Assistance to the Mudslide Disaster in Jilong, Tibet", accepting donations and goods from the society. The funds and goods raised will be used to support emergency rescue and post-disaster reconstruction in the affected areas.
At the donation ceremony, Chairman Yang Guoping presented a donation on behalf of the Volkswagen Group to the Shanghai Charity Foundation, which was accepted by Director Zhong Yanqun on behalf of the foundation. In his speech at the ceremony, Chairman Yang Guoping stated that "When one party is in distress, Volkswagen supports" has been the corporate philosophy of the Volkswagen Group since its inception. While growing and developing, the company has always had the community in mind and put its corporate responsibility into practice. In times of crisis, Volkswagen never fails to lend a helping hand. The sudden mudslide disaster in Jilong, Xizang, is heart-wrenching. The people in the disaster area are enduring the pain and life pressures brought by the disaster. It is hoped that this donation can effectively assist the local emergency rescue and disaster relief efforts, as well as post-disaster recovery and reconstruction.
Chairperson Zhong Yanqun expressed her sincere gratitude to the Volkswagen Group for their proactive and generous donation. She stated that in the face of the sudden disaster in Jilong, Tibet, the Volkswagen Group responded immediately and provided timely assistance, fully demonstrating the strong social responsibility of the enterprise. The foundation will allocate all the donated funds to the special relief project for the mudslide in Jilong, Tibet, ensuring that every bit of love reaches the disaster-stricken areas directly and effectively delivering the love from Shanghai to the people in the disaster area.
Looking back at past major disasters, the benevolent presence of the Dazhong Group has always been there. Previously, Dazhong Public Utilities and Dazhong Transportation have jointly donated funds on multiple occasions, including assistance to the earthquake-stricken areas in Gansu, the earthquake-stricken areas in Dingri, Tibet, and the families of victims in the Tai Po fire disaster in Hong Kong, for local rescue and reconstruction efforts.
In addition to financial donations, the rear window screens of Dazhong taxis driving on the streets of Shanghai also simultaneously lit up with the heartwarming public welfare slogan "Heart to Kirung, Dazhong Helps", allowing the mobile windows on the streets to convey the deep concern of Shanghai citizens for Tibetan compatriots, and calling on all sectors of society to gather their love and strength to overcome difficulties together.
